Gypsy Vanners, also known as Gypsy Cob or Gypsy Horses, originated from Great Britain and Ireland. The Gypsy people bred these horses for many years to pull wagons and carry their children. Gypsy Vanners were imported into the US in 1996 and the Gypsy Vanner Horse Society was established as a registry for the breed.
The Gypsy Vanner Horse is a new and rare breed in the United States. They are most noticed for their abundant feathering and long manes and tails. The breed is known to have a docile, friendly and engaging temperament. The majority of the breed stands 14-15 hands at the withers. The Gypsy Vanners are thought to have originated from a combination of breeds including Shire, Clydesdale and Dale ponies. Gypsy Vanners come in any color, solid, tobiano and splash.
We raise a multiple purebred gypsy foals each year. Coloration varies depending on the parents color. We are always able to estimate color possibilities for our babies. Our foals spend most their time with our mare herd to learn proper herd socialization skills. They are worked with from birth as they grow and taught age-appropriate basic skills.
Our foals range between $10,000-12,500. We are always open to payment plans as well as in utero purchasing options to give a significantly longer payment window. We occasionally have yearlings and adult horses available. Pricing varies per horse. I do reserve the right to cancel or refuse a sale if I feel it is in the best interest of my animals to do so.
All our horses are clear for PSSM1. We test all our foals for PSSM to have proof of clear testing shown on the registration paperwork.
What is PSSM1?
Type 1 Polysaccharide Storage Myopathy (PSSM1) is a muscle disease characterized by accumulation of abnormal complex sugars (glycogen) in skeletal muscles. The accumulation of abnormal sugars can cause breakdown of muscle fibers (rhabdomyolosis) which leads to muscle pain, weakness, skin twitching, sweating, and reluctance to move.
All our Gypsy Vanners are registered with GVHS. All foals will come with their registration paperwork complete.
We are hoping to teach both stallions to collect in early 2027! They will be available for shipped cool semen or side by side AI done at a facility near us. At this time only registered gypsy mares will be considered.
